Hannah is a textile artist whose embroidery practice bridges art, craft, and design. Her work is characterised by vibrant colour, intricate stitching, and a deep appreciation for the natural world, creating contemporary botanical pieces that celebrate the connection between plants, wellbeing, and the spaces we inhabit.

After being awarded the Bernard and Frieda Clowes Textiles Scholarship, Hannah completed her MA in Textiles at Manchester Metropolitan University, specialising in embroidery at Manchester School of Art. Her practice combines traditional hand embroidery with digital processes, transforming fabric into richly textured artworks that bring the restorative beauty of nature indoors.

Hannah's journey into embroidery began during the pandemic while working as a nurse, when stitching became a creative outlet through a period of personal loss and the pressures of frontline healthcare. This experience continues to shape her belief in the therapeutic power of making and the importance of creativity for mental wellbeing.

Today, Hannah balances her creative practice alongside her role at Anthony Nolan, where she has returned to her nursing roots. This allows her to continue supporting people through healthcare while developing a sustainable artistic practice.

Alongside creating original embroidered artworks and bespoke commissions, Hannah designs DIY Bargello needlepoint kits under the brand @colourflobargello, encouraging others to discover the joy and mindfulness of stitching.

Hannah is also a founding member of Studio Texteal, a collaborative textile studio based at Grit Studios in Manchester's Great Northern Warehouse. Together with fellow textile artist Claire, she hosts workshops and creates opportunities for people to explore contemporary textile practices. She is also part of the Manchester Community Textiles Collective, helping to foster an inclusive and supportive textile community through exhibitions, events, and creative collaboration.

Whether creating intricate botanical embroideries, designing accessible craft kits, or leading workshops, Hannah's work is rooted in the belief that textiles have the power to connect people, nurture creativity, and offer moments of calm in an increasingly busy world.
