A Festive Start: My Christmas Market Experience
This past December, I had the wonderful opportunity to showcase my work at a Christmas market held at the university where it all started. It was an exciting and nerve-wracking milestone for me as an artist and small business owner. Surrounded by the festive buzz, I set up my stall with a collection of my digitally embroidered products and DIY needlepoint kits, hoping to share my passion for embroidery with a new (IRL) audience.
Setting up my stall was great fun but also a challenge as a perfectionist. I wanted it to reflect the care and creativity that go into each of my pieces. My digitally embroidered products, with their vivid colours and intricate designs, sat beautifully alongside the Colourflo Bargello needlepoint kits, which were arranged in a new rack, ready to inspire others to take up stitching. The combination of finished art and creative kits was designed to appeal to both seasoned crafters and those looking for a mindful, beginner-friendly project.
The response was incredible! I received so much positive feedback from people who were captivated by the intricate details in my embroidery and the vibrant, playful patterns in my kits. It was amazing to see how many people appreciated the artistry and effort behind my work. I also made some fantastic sales, which was both encouraging and rewarding. Knowing that my pieces were going home to bring joy to others—whether as unique gifts or personal treasures—meant the world to me.
Beyond sales, the Christmas market was a fantastic learning experience. Engaging with customers face-to-face gave me valuable insights into what resonates with people. Some customers shared their own crafting stories, while others were curious about the process behind my digital embroidery and the therapeutic benefits of needlepoint. It was a wonderful reminder of why I started this journey—to share the joy of stitching and connect with others through creativity.
Reflecting on the market, I feel so grateful for the experience and the support from everyone who visited my stall. It has inspired me to participate in more events like this and continue to refine my offerings. As I move forward, I’m excited to build on the momentum, create new designs, and explore even more ways to share my love for embroidery with the world.
If you visited my stall at the market, thank you for your support! If not, stay tuned for more events and updates—there’s so much more to come!
